Beginning in the early 1920s our founder, Father Edward Flanagan hosted a nationally syndicated 1939 radio program called, "Links Of Love". "He used this forum to voice issues relating to parenting, discipline, and other child related issues. The broadcast included music from the band and the choir, students reporting on daily activity at boys town and the children's personal stories. Father Flanagan also used the radio time to raise much needed financial support.
Father Edward J. Flanagan, a Roman Catholic priest and Irish immigrant, founded Father Flanagan's Boys' Home, not more commonly known as Boys Town, in 1917. Boys Town is a leader in the treatment and care of abused, abandoned and neglected girls and boys, and is one of the largest privately supported youth care and treatment programs in the world. We are a nonprofit, nonsectarian organization. Through out our history, we have provided children with a safe, caring, loving environment, where they gain confidence to get better and learn skills to become productive citizens. Boys Town is a tax-exempt organization and is governed by a Board of Trustees.
| Under the direction of Father Steven, Boys Town cares for thousands of children and families each year. In 2007, 51,198 children received help from our youth and health care programs in more than a dozen states and the district of Columbia. Now over 90 years strong, Boys Town is embarking on a new mission to affect change in a fragmented system of youth care by building a continuum of family services to provide the right services at the right time based on a child's or families needs. Boys Town National Headquarters and largest child-care facility are located at the world-famous historic headquarters and largest child care facility are located at the world famous, historic Village of Boys Town, in Nebraska.
| Father Flanagan had a weekly radio show, "Boys Town", which is very interesting as well as speaks to today's young people that are in need and or trouble.
| "Today many of the youth are facing upresedented problems like never before in our nation's history. The lack of solid parenting, morals and God in many families are destroying our country's greatest asset, the children, the youth, tomorrows adults! Just think about this? Many of our nation's young people grow up on the streets and become homeless and end up on drugs and alcohol, in gangs, prostitution, rape, murder and often end up in jail or in prison. There are millions of our youth that are in trouble, and they many come from broken homes, and they become victims, and often the forgotten victims in many if not most of our cities today. "Boys Town" is one of the best places for young people to go to and have their lives totally changed! PLEASE? Won't you help and give a donation to "Boys Town"?
